P.PORTO promotes national prize on climatic changes

This prize is part of the strategy of sustainability outlined by the Social Services that encompasses environmental concerns, economic prosperity and social equity

The project MUD.AS- take care of the Climate is a Social Services project of the Polytechnic of Porto (SAS), co-financed by POSEUR – Sustainability and Efficiency Operational Program in the Use of Resources, which aims at the sensibilization and awareness of climate change, through a set of actions that reinforce the importance of protecting the environment and promote the conscious use of our planet’s natural resources.

Currently, the SAS, are promoting the Prémio Nacional do Estudante do Ensino Superior (National Award for Higher Education Students) which intends to encourage self-taught learning and the application of critical and investigative skills of Higher Education students, in the service of the environment. Applications are open until 6:30pm on March 15.

All enrolled students in this academic year in a Higher Education institution, who are authors of some work (dissertation, internship report or project) already evaluated and defended, whose themes focuses on climatic changes and environmental sustainability, can participate in the competition individually.

The winner of the competition will join a group of Portuguese representatives in the following events: Fórum de Juventude para os Oceanos (Youth Forum for the Oceans), taking place on May 30 and 31, in Lisbon, covering all cost of accommodation, food and transport; and in the  Conferência das Nações Unidas para os Oceanos 2020 ( United Nations Conference for the Oceans 2020), taking place from June 2 to 6, also in Lisbon and also with the issues of accommodation, food and transport ensured.
