P.PORTO Welfare Services took Participatory Budget to Berlin

Acção Social

OpAS was the only Portuguese project distinguished in the 39th French-German Colloquium on Student Affairs.

The opAS - Welfare Services Participatory Budget was born with a global strategy to strengthen student participation in the decision-making and resource management processes of the P.PORTO Welfare Services. The official presentation of the winning project, SAS.Form, took place on July 13 and was attended by the Assistant Secretary of State and Administrative Modernization.

SAS.Form is a project to create a free training plan and was designed by Cristiano Esteves of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto. The opAS was considered by several entities as "pioneering and innovative throughout the European space", and was presented last Friday in Berlin, Germany, within the framework of the European Student Services Conference - 39th French-German Colloquium on Student Affairs.

OpAS was the only Portuguese project distinguished at the meeting. This colloquium is the most important meeting on topics related to student support services in France and Germany and was attended by dozens of delegations from student support organizations from across Europe.
The opAS is coordinated by a committee that includes the Welfare Services Council, the Student Ombudsman and a representative from each Student Association, which, according to Paulo Ferraz, "were decisive agents in the implementation and success of this project."

As part of this event and an initiative already under way, in 2018, the P.PORTO will host an international conference focused on student services, which will involve the partners of the European Student Services Conference - 39th French-German Colloquium on Student Affairs.
