P.PORTO received on August 22, a delegation of 23 teachers linked to the education sector of the South Korean province of Gyeongsangnam-do. The purpose of this visit was to share best practices and information on teaching methods in both countries. The entourage was received by João Rocha, President of Polytechnic of Porto and Vice-President, Cristina Pinto da Silva.
In addition to the teachers, which covers both pre-school and higher education, three members of the Gyeongsangnam-Office of Education were present, including Commissioner Seong, Duwon.
Located in Southwestern South Korea, the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education privileges a student-centered education, adopting a practice-based learning methodology. This program of the South Korean Ministry of Education postulates the adoption of a democratic culture in schools, equitable access to innovation and technology in the classroom, and participatory and responsible articulation with the surrounding community. For Park Jong-Hoon, the institution's director, the South Korean education system feels a great responsibility for the future of students, and that responsibility means providing all students, from elementary to tertiary education, with the necessary tools to create "happier schools and happier teaching-learning models ".
