The European Master in Medical Technology and Healthcare Business – EMMAH is a joint programme initiative promoted by three higher education institutions: Faculty of Life Sciences (Hamburg) – HAW, Escola Superior de Saúde do Porto (P.Porto) – ESS.PP and L’Institute Lillois d’ Ingénierie de la Santé (Lille) – ILIS, by the development and knowledge sharing of their expertise in three main scientific areas: engineering, health and health economics.

Giving due regard to changes and requirements in the working world, the aim of this Master's Programme is to impart to students holding a relevant bachelor's degree (see entry requirements) to particular knowledge, skills and methods required in the medical technology and healthcare business field.

Students from each partner’s country must apply to their home institutions. Selection of students will be perform by a joint committee.

The participation of the different institutions of higher education recognized in these three countries represents an opportunity to create synergies of diverse areas of knowledge, conferring to this masters an undeniable potential of quality and innovation.

This MSc is organized in 4 semesters:

1st semester: Germany - Hamburg University of Applied Sciences Faculty of Life Sciences (https://www.haw-hamburg.de/en/translate-to-english-storage/translate-to-english-study-courses/studierende/stg-ls/european-master-of-medical-technology-and-healthcare-business/);

2nd semester: Portugal - Porto Instituto Polytecnico do Porto-Escola Superior de Saúde

The second semester takes place in ESS | P. Porto and has the collaboration of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto;

3rd semester: France - Lille University of Lille II - Faculté Ingénierie et Management de la Santé (3rd semester) (https://ilis.univ-lille.fr/toutes-nos-formations/master-ingenierie-de-la-sante/m1-m2-parcours-international-master-emmah-european-master-of-medical-technology-and-healthcare-business/);

4th semester: Master's thesis in one of the countries of the student's choice.

  • With this Master's degree course is intended to train professionals with knowledge, skills and methods related with the development, design and marketing of medical technologies and devices.
  • Additionally, this Master's Degree aims to promote mobility in the European context and thereby increase employability or open up new employment opportunities.

The entry requirements is in accordance with the legal requirements: in Portugal by art.17º, DL 115/2013 de 7 de Agosto, in France by articles L.613 du code de l’éducation and and in Germany as conferred by Hamburg University Law (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz) § 38 and Hamburg Training Capacity Law (Ausbildungskapazitätsgesetz Hamburg).

Applicants for EMMAH must meet the following minimum requirements:

1.Hold a BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent, BSc degree in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy or

equivalent, BSc degree in Biomedical Engineering or equivalent, BSc degree in Audiology or equivalent, BSc

degree in Health Sciences or equivalent;

2.Hold a foreign academic degree in the fields of knowledge of item 1. according to legal requirements;

3.Hold an academic, scientific or professional curriculum knowledge recognized by the scientific body of the HEI;

4.Hold an English certificate (B2 level).

Additional student’s criteria admission will be defined by a joint committee.
