Physiotherapy, Neurology specialization

The Master’s degree in Physiotherapy was planned and conceived according to the core principles of the Bologna Process, particularly its conceptions of a student-centred learning process and the European Credit Transfer System, which enables the assessment of the student’s effort throughout the course. The curriculum is aimed at providing students with a deep knowledge on important areas of Physiotherapy, as well as other fields of knowledge that constitute its practice, such as functional sciences, morphological sciences, Biomechanics, Psychology, Physics, Biostatistics and Pharmacy. The first trimester of the course is common to the five existing fields of specialization; afterwards, students are distributed by the same five fields. The second year consist of an Internship and respective written Report, corresponding to a total of 30 ECTS credits.

Neurological Physiotherapy – This option was designed to physiotherapists who intervene amongst individuals affected by neurological lesions, giving them the chance to share experiences and, through a deep reflection, enable the assimilation of knowledge and the comprehension of the role of the central nervous system (CNS) in human motion control, with an analysis of the pathological processes and the development of intervention strategies among these individuals.
