Higher Professional Technical Course in Legal Informatics

The Higher Professional Technical Course in Legal Informatics has its main focus on training aimed at the exercise of a professional activity in the legal area, facilitating insertion in the competitive and demanding job market. The exponential expansion of information and communication technologies (ICT) to all areas of human activity, launching extraordinary challenges and opportunities, represents an added challenge for public and private entities.

The business world, and with it the job market, have already understood this reality, favouring the hiring of professionals not only with solid knowledge in the legal area, but also with a comprehensive understanding of the risks and opportunities that ICTs represent for their professional activity.

The area of forensic professions has undergone a radical transformation with the transposition of most administrative and judicial procedures to computer applications that have become imperative in the daily life of any public or private legal service. Administrative support to legal offices, whether in public or private entities, matters today, in addition to basic knowledge of secretarial, administrative procedure and judicial process, it requires solid computer knowledge from the user's point of view, as well as a correct understanding of how it works. of ICT and its legal framework. It is essential to have professionals with skill in the use of computer applications, the ability to adapt and learn in the face of continuous updates and new applications that constantly invade the legal daily life.

In addition, the Higher Professional Technical Course in Legal Informatics is part of the School's strategy, which consists of offering diversified training (CTeSPs, Degrees and Masters) in its four fundamental scientific areas (Business Sciences, Informatics, Legal and Social Sciences and Security and health). With this objective, the School has to offer, in the area of legal courses, in addition to the aforementioned CTeSP, the degree in Solicitorship and the Master in Solicitorship.

Candidates who are in at least one of the following situations are eligible to enter the Higher Professional Technical Course in Legal Informatics: - Hold a secondary education course or a legally equivalent qualification that proves having passed Portuguese; - Having passed the tests specifically designed to assess the ability to attend higher education for those over 23 years old, carried out for the course in question, under the terms of Decree-Law nº 64/2006, of 21 March, as amended by the Decree-Laws No. 113/2014, of July 16, and No. 63/2016, of September 13; - Hold a technological specialization diploma or a higher professional technical diploma or hold a higher education degree.
