The Higher Professional Technical Course in Legal Informatics has its main focus on training aimed at exercising a professional activity in the legal area, facilitating insertion in the competitive and demanding job market. The exponential expansion of information and communication technologies (ICT) to all areas of human activity, posing extraordinary challenges and opportunities, represents an added challenge for public and private entities.

The business world, and with it the labor market, have already understood this reality, favoring the hiring of professionals not only with solid knowledge in the legal field, but also with a comprehensive understanding of the risks and opportunities that ICT represent for their professional activity.

The area of forensic professions has undergone a radical transformation with the transposition of most administrative and judicial procedures to computer applications that have become imperative in the day-to-day of any public or private legal service. Administrative support to legal offices, whether in public entities or in private entities, matters today, in addition to basic knowledge of the secretariat, administrative procedure and judicial process, requires solid computer knowledge from the user's perspective, as well as a correct understanding of the operation ICT and its legal framework. It is essential to have professionals with skills in the use of computer applications, adaptability and learning capacity in the face of continuous updates and new applications that constantly invade the legal daily life.

In addition, the Higher Technical Professional Course in Legal Informatics is part of the School's strategy, which consists of offering diversified training (CTeSPs, Degrees and Masters) in its four fundamental scientific areas (Business Sciences, Informatics, Legal and Social Sciences and Security and health). With this objective in mind, the School has to offer, in the area of legal courses, in addition to the aforementioned CTeSP, the degree in Solicitorship and the Master's in Solicitorship.

Legal secretary in offices of Lawyers, Solicitors, Real Estate Agents, Legal Department and/or Human Resources of a company or public entity, among others.

Candidates who are in at least one of the following situations are eligible to enroll in the Higher Professional Technical Course in Legal Informatics: hold a secondary education course or legally equivalent qualification that proves they have successfully mastered Portuguese; have been approved in the tests specially designed to assess the ability of those over 23 years of age to attend higher education, carried out, for the course in question, under the terms of Decree-Law no. -Laws No. 113/2014, of July 16, and No. 63/2016, of September 13; hold a technological specialization diploma or a higher professional technician diploma or hold a higher education degree.
