Opening Week on Campus 2

The Opening Week 2016/2017 regards the new P.PORTO schools: Media Arts and Design and the School of Hospitality and Tourism.

The welcoming session for new students had the presence of Rosário Gambôa, President of P.PORTO; Elisa Ferraz, Mayor of Vila do Conde, and Aires Pereira, Mayor of  Povoa de Varzim; Olivia da Silva and Flávio Ferreira, presidents of ESMAD and ESHT, respectively; António Marques, Vice-President of the Polytechnic of Porto; and Berta Batista, the Student Ombudsman

The musical moment was in charge of José Luis Silveira.

Olívia da Silva believes the School of Media Arts and Design was "a major challenge in the global repositioning of the Politecnico do Porto" and emphasizes how the school fullfilled about "98% of the initial positions" - "a great victory" since the transfer of audiovisual courses from Porto to Campus 2 did not cause a loss of candidates. The chairman of the founding committee of ESMAD advances that there is already "35 foreign students, most of them from Brazil." that school filled about "98% of the initial positions" - "a great victory" since the transfer of audiovisual Port courses for Campus 2 did not cause a loss of candidates. "Having such a vast number of students who decided to choose our degrees is for us a source of great joy and satisfaction," says Flávio Ferreira. The goal of ESHT, which filled all vacancies available in the first phase is to use the good quantity and quality of new students. "With such good students, I'm sure we can do an excelent job so that they can give in the future a positive contribution to the development of tourism, catering and hospitality - areas increasingly important in the economy," he concludes.
