Largest engineering society in the world distinguishes ISEP professor

Manuel Gericota, professor at ISEP, P.PORTO Engineering School, was awarded the IEEE Education Society, Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers

Manuel Gericota, professor and researcher at the Department of Electrotechnical Engineering of the Institute of Engineering of Porto (ISEP), was awarded by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) with the 2019 IEEE Education Society Distinguished Chapter Leadership Award. recognition for his contribution as chair of the Portuguese Chapter of that company.

The award was presented by the president of the IEEE Education Society, Russ Meier, during the banquet held at the Frontiers in Education Conference, held in Cincinnati, USA, October 16-19.

Manuel Gericota was chair of the Portuguese Chapter between 2015 and 2017 and was distinguished for his contribution to its revitalization, the creation of communication channels and the promotion of activities, generating value for its members. It is worth remembering that among the activities promoted during this period was the 30 Years of Macintosh Plus exhibition, organized in collaboration with the ISEP Museum and open to the public between January and December 2016.

IEEE is a professional non-profit organization founded in the USA. in 1963 by the merger of the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE) with the American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AIEE). It is the largest association of engineers in the world and seeks to promote scientific excellence through high impact publications in newspapers, conferences, standards and educational / professional activities.
