Deolinda Meira awarded Social Economy Personality of the Year 2022

ISCAP teacher and researcher wins important career award given by the CASES jury

The Cooperativa António Sérgio para a Economia Social (CASES)  - Cooperative for the Social Economy announced Deolinda Meira, lecturer at the Higher Institute of Accounting and Administration of Porto (ISCAP), as Social Economy Personality 2022 - Career Honours Award.

The Cooperation and Solidarity António Sérgio Award, created by CASES in 2012, is intended to honour natural and legal persons who, through their career in the management of Social Economy entities, in supporting and boosting the sector, or in teaching, promotion or research in the field of Social Economy, have contributed significantly to its recognition and development.

It is an award of great importance that, in addition to herself, is prestigious for ISCAP, for the Master in Management and Legal Business System of the Social Economy and for the Centre for Social and Organizational Studies of the Polytechnic of Porto (CEOS.PP).

Deolinda Meira has a degree, a Master's and a PhD in Law, with a thesis on "The economic regime of cooperatives in Portugal - The social capital", and she is assistant professor of Commercial Law at ISCAP. Her research focuses on the legal framework of cooperatives and the social economy, and she is the author of scientific papers, monographs, book chapters and articles on these subjects.

She is deputy director of the Journal Revista Cooperativismo e Economia Social of the University of Vigo, research member of CEOS.PP where she coordinates the research line on social economy, of SGECOL - Study Group on European Cooperative Law, of IBECOOP - Instituto Brasileiro de Estudos em Cooperativismo, among others. The award ceremony will take place during the first quarter of 2023, at a date and place to be announced in due course.
