World Book Day celebrated with a launch

"SOPHIA: Campo Alegre", a book commemorating the centenary of Sophia de Mello Breyner's birth, marks the occasion in Porto

The 23rd of April is World Book and Copyright Day. This is a symbolic date for literature, established by UNESCO in 1995, which marks the anniversary of the death of major authors of world literature such as Shakespeare or Cervantes.

The Polytechnic of Porto and the Higher School of Education (ESE) will celebrate this event with the launch of the book SOPHIA: Campo Alegre. This is an artistic object, in physical and digital support, allusive to the centenary of the birth of Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen (1919-2004). It was made by students of the ESE's degree in Visual Arts and Artistic Technologies, in the curricular units of Drawing and Photography and Video Laboratory, in the academic year 2018-2019, under the guidance of the teachers António Fernando Silva and Augusto Lemos.

The launch event takes place on Friday the 23rd April, from 16h, and you can attend in person, in ESE's main auditorium, or via Zoom.
