ISEP's innovative pedagogical method wins award

The prize was awarded during the 14th European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ECIE) in Greece

Teachers from the Institute of Engineering of Porto (ISEP), School of Engineering of the Polytechnic of Porto, Susana Nicola and Alberto Pereira attended the 14th European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ECIE) and received the diploma of merit in the area of innovative teaching methodologies in innovation and entrepreneurship.

ECIE has an international competition, entitled 2019 Teaching Innovation and Entrepreneurship Excellence Awards, to which the teachers submitted a case study, which they developed in the Systems Laboratory II course, third year of the Degree in Systems Engineering. Called Challenge-Based Learning Promotes Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Higher Education - Pilot Implementation in an Integrated Subject, the case study was published in a book and involves the implementation of a new pedagogical method to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in students. For the development of this study, there was a selection of a set of characteristics that Susana Nicola and Alberto Pereira consider pertinent to the student: creativity, critical thinking, knowing how to work in groups and lifelong learning. To do so, they resorted to a series of tools, whose use has been tested to support the development of these attributes, namely CBL, MVP, Scrum, Pitch and Lowcode.

This project was partnered by Outsystems and Do It Lean.
