More than 300 ERASMUS Coordinators, Placement and Internships Managers, Career Officers, Researchers, and Professionals with an interest in the ERASMUS+ Programme are participating in the congress to network and discuss the most pressing challenges of the future of higher education.

Some of the main themes of the Congress are ERASMUS+ 2021-2027, Quality of ERASMUS Activities, Staff Mobility for Teaching and Training, Funding, and Policy.

The ATHENA European University Alliance organized the session European Universities: what is changing in European Higher Education? to discuss several initiatives contributing to the higher education transformation wave that is impacting Europe. Represented by Nuno Escudeiro, this important session brought to the debate an integrated approach to the synergies achieved by the Alliance in the European space of higher education within the scope of the four dimensions of universities: education, research, innovation, and service to society.

The ATHENA European University - Advanced Technology Higher Education Network Alliance is a consortium led by Politécnico do Porto with higher education institutions (HEIs) located in nine European countries. Besides Politécnico do Porto, the alliance includes the University of Orléans (France), Hellenic Mediterranean University (Greece), Siegen University (Germany), University of Maribor (Slovenia), Niccolò Cusano University (Italy), Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (Lithuania), Vigo University (Spain) and Marie Curie Sklodowska University (Poland). The sharing of resources, tools and infrastructure is one of the added values that this alliance brings to the nine HEIs, which together are home to more than 120,000 students and ten thousand staff.

ATHENA draws on the combined strengths of each member with the aim of providing inclusive, innovative, and high-quality international education, permanently aligned with the needs of the global market.
