This cycle of studies follows on from previous training that qualifies individuals to work as a Portuguese Sign Language (PSL) Translator and Interpreter and seeks to deepen skills to work in particularly demanding contexts in terms of translation and interpretation, namely the contexts of justice, health and education.

This 2nd cycle of training, leading to a Master's degree, aims to ensure joint ownership of a professional qualification for interpreting from and into Portuguese sign language in public and/or private contexts, in particular in the contexts of justice, health and education, at different levels of education.

The following may apply for admission to the course: a) Holders of a Bachelor's degree or legal equivalent in Translation and Interpretation in/from Portuguese Sign Language and Bachelor's Degree in Portuguese Sign Language (interpretation field); b) Holders of an academic degree obtained abroad, conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna process, by a State adhering to this process, provided that it complies with the conditions established in a); c) Holders of an academic degree obtained abroad, which is recognized, by the Technical-Scientific Council of the School of Education of the Polytechnic of Porto, as meeting the objectives of the bachelor's degree, provided that they comply with the conditions established in a); d) Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum, which is recognized by the jury appointed by the Technical-Scientific Council of the School of Education of the Polytechnic of Porto, as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies.
