National Reading Plan

Reading is a crucial culture exercise that encourages a conscious knowing, exercise and proof of freedom to think.

Following the Resolution of the Council of Ministers no. 48/2017, the National Reading Plan 2027 now foresees the extension of the agents involved, the target public, methodologies adopted and the support required to develop an integrated policy to promote reading and writing.

The indicators on literacy and reading practices in Portugal have shown a sustained evolution, but there is still a long way to go.

It is up to the Higher Education to be involved in the development of a structured policy in the promotion of reading and writing. P.PORTO is aware of this transfer of responsibilities, promoting the acquisition of reading and writing skills at a higher level of learning.

This is the role of  Politécnico do Porto Conferences. This is also the role of our Creative Writing Workshops,  or our Editions. This is the role of our cultural policy.
