Simplification is the core area of the great effort of administrative modernization in Portugal. However, this presupposes a thorough work of reviewing procedures and processes making them simpler, more rational and more effective, faster and more satisfying.

With this operation, P.PORTO intends to review ten macro processes and all their procedures taking into account the following principles:

  • Eliminate unnecessary administrative procedures;
  • Eliminate steps of the administrative procedure that are no longer required;
  • Develop guides and guidelines to clarify and better understand a legal regime;
  • Eliminate requests for information not necessary for the instruction of the procedure;
  • Eliminate requests for opinions from external public entities, when not justified;
  • Eliminate the obligation of interested parties to provide information that the Public Administration already holds, allowing access to other public databases, with respect for the protection of personal data;
  • Perform the procedure within a certain period, with automatic issuance of documents enabling the interested party to develop the intended behaviour, in case of non-compliance with deadlines;
  • Eliminate or reduce intermediate deadlines.
